Dell XPS 13 (2020) Is Now Officially Available With Ubuntu Linux 20.04

Dell is doing it again: The computer group is now offering the popular compact notebook Dell XPS 13 in the latest version with the latest, pre-installed Linux operating system. The Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition is now also available.
While Lenovo has only recently started shipping a few laptop models with Linux, this has long been common at Dell. With the Developer Edition of its 2020 Dell XPS 13, the US manufacturer is building on the tradition that has been around for years and is once again launching the XPS 13, known for its compact design and good features, in cooperation with Canonical with Ubuntu Linux.

The latest Ubuntu is pre-installed directly

The latest version available on Dell.de comes with the current Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. It is the first notebook ever to be sold ex-works with the new LTS version of Ubuntu 20.04. So far, however, the new versions of the Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition announced in the press release have not yet been found in the German Dell online store. In the United States, however, the device can already be ordered for $ 1099.
As usual, Dell is likely to sell the Linux notebook in Germany at significantly higher prices, although no details are yet available on the type of variants available. Like the Windows 10-based models, the Linux edition also comes with a high-quality aluminum case, a slightly grown 16:10 display with an optional matt surface, and the new 10th generation Intel Core processors.
It is pleasing that Dell wants to offer the XPS 13 Developer Edition in Germany with up to a remarkable 32 gigabytes of RAM so that there should be enough RAM available for every development environment. In addition, there is talk of almost 19 hours of battery life in the version with FHD + resolution and there is also an optional fingerprint reader and WiFi 6 support in the Linux version.
